Officer Candidate School OPTIONS
Before you join the Texas Army National Guard for OCS or currently in the TXANGR please read the following options. If you want to enlist into the National Guard for OCS see your local enlisted recruiter to start the process.
Non Prior Service Options:
- (Federal OCS) In order to qualify for this program you must posses a bachleors degree from an accredited institution, not be older than 35 yrs and must be in good phsyical standing in order to pass an APFT with a 270 or higher. If accpeted into the OCS program you will be sent to Basic Combat Training and immediately follow Federal OCS at Fort Benning, GA.
- (Traditional OCS) Thise course is the State OCS program that is 18 months long. If you are coming into the Texas Army National Guard and meet the requirements you can come in as a 09S meaning you are joining the TXARNG for OCS specifically. You will attend Basic Combat Training. As a 09S you are not required to attend AIT as long as you stay in good standing. Be awarae that as a 09S you must be commissioned or enrolled into OCS within two years of your date of enlistment.
- (Accelerated OCS) Currently all accelerated OCS for Texas is unavailable until further notice.
