Warrant Officers
Texas is looking for NCOs who have the experience, leadership and technical skills to become Warrant Officers. A Warrant Officer is highly specialized "Technical Expert" and trainer in a specific MOS, a network of quiet professionals who manage, operate, maintain and administer the Army's equipment, support activities, or technical systems for an entire career. Warrant Officers are essential in every facet of our changing military structure and Texas needs the best of the best, to strengthen our Warrant Officer Corps and the commands we serve.
TEXAS WARRANT OFFICER PREREQUISITES
- US Citizenship (No Waivers)
- General Technical (GT) score of 110 or higher (No Waivers)
- High school graduate or have a GED (No
Waivers)
- Secret security clearance (Interim secret is acceptable to apply)
- Pass the standard 3-event Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) and meet height/weight standards
- Pass commissioning physical or the Class 1 (warrant officer candidate) flight physical for
Aviators
- All applicants must have at least 12 months remaining on their enlistment contract

PROPONENT PACKET APPROVAL
Soldier will assemble their proponent packet according to the predetermination checklist. Once the packet is assembled, Soldier will take packet to a Warrant Officer Recruiter for review and submission to the proponent school for approval.
Concurrent with the predetermination process, the applicant must complete a Warrant Officer Candidate appointment application for consideration by the Federal Recognition Board. The Federal Recognition Board is conducted monthly at Camp Mabry, Building 8 and is scheduled by the Officer Personnel Management Office.
The Senior Regular Army Advisor conducts the board with selected commissioned officers and a Warrant Officer of the MOS to be considered. The CCWO is present but is not a board member. The board determines the applicant’s eligibility for entrance into the Warrant Officer Education System (WOES) and warrant officer appointment
FEDERAL RECOGNITION AND FEDERAL RECOGNITION BOARD
The board determines if the individual possesses the necessary attributes for appointment as a warrant officer. If the board finds the applicant qualified, an order appointing him/her as a Warrant Officer Candidate (WOC) is issued and a primary MOS of 09W00 is awarded. If the board does not find the applicant qualified, the application will be returned with any additional requirements noted. Packets may then be resubmitted for consideration once all requirements have been met.e Officer Personnel Manager (OPM) at the State headquarters through the WOSM. Once the packet has been reviewed by OPM, it will be programmed for the Federal Recognition Board for appropriate action together with the Predetermination packet. For appointment to WOC, the individual must appear before the Federal Recognition Board for an interview as part of the approval process.

WARRANT OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL (WOCS)
Currently there are two options for completion of WOCS. 1. Attend the four or six week Active Component WOCS at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. 2. Attend the RTI-WOCS program which runs approximately 5 months at Camp Mabry and concludes at Ft. McClellan, Alabama with a two week end of course phase on the sixth month. The CCWO will determine which course the Soldier will attend.
